Caustics in quantum many-body dynamics

چکیده

We describe a new class of nonequilibrium quantum many-body phenomena in the form networks caustics that dominate wave function semiclassical regime following sudden quench. It includes light cone-like propagation correlations as particular case. Caustics are singularities formed by birth and death waves hierarchy universal patterns whose natural mathematical description is via catastrophe theory. Examples classical range from rainbows gravitational lensing optics to tidal bores rogue hydrodynamics. Quantum discretized second quantization (``quantum catastrophes'') live Fock space, which can potentially have many dimensions. illustrate these ideas using Bose Hubbard dimer trimer models, simple enough caustic structure be elucidated first principles yet run full integrable nonintegrable dynamics. The gives rise versions fold cusp catastrophes whereas allows for higher including codimension-3 hyperbolic elliptic umbilics, organized by, projections of, an 8-dimensional corank-2 known ${X}_{9}$. These results hitherto unrecognized universality dynamics manifest strong fluctuations mode population probabilities.

Probing quantum many-body dynamics in nuclear systems

Quantum many-body nuclear dynamics is treated at the mean-field level with the time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) theory. Low-lying and high-lying nuclear vibrations are studied using the linear response theory. The fusion mechanism is also described for light and heavy systems. The latter exhibit fusion hindrance due to quasi-fission. Typical characteristics of quasi-fission, such as contact t...

Many-body quantum dynamics of polarization squeezing in optical fibers.

We report new experiments that test quantum dynamical predictions of polarization squeezing for ultrashort photonic pulses in a birefringent fiber, including all relevant dissipative effects. This exponentially complex many-body problem is solved by means of a stochastic phase-space method. The squeezing is calculated and compared to experimental data, resulting in excellent quantitative agreem...

Stochastic gauges in quantum dynamics for many-body simulations

Quantum dynamics simulations can be improved using novel quasiprobability distributions based on non-orthogonal hermitian kernel operators. This introduces arbitrary functions (gauges) into the stochastic equations, which can be used to tailor them for improved calculations. A possible application to full quantum dynamic simulations of BEC’s is presented.
